The server supports 24 DIMM slots, up to 6 PCIe 3.0 slots, and up to 24 front-loading drives, with two optional internal SATA boot drives. It also includes a modular mLOM slot for network cards and 2 x 1 GbE embedded LOM ports. The UCS C240 M4 can operate as a standalone server or as part of Cisco’s Unified Computing System for integrated computing, networking, and storage management.

Security
The Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is a microcontroller designed to securely store critical artifacts used for authenticating the server platform. These artifacts include passwords, certificates, and encryption keys, all of which help ensure the integrity and security of the system. Both TPM 1.2 SPI-based and TPM 2.0 modules are supported, providing flexibility in securing data.
In addition to TPM, the locking bezel option can be mounted on the front of the chassis. This feature acts as an added security measure, preventing unauthorized access to the server’s drives. With this combination of TPM and a locking bezel, the server ensures enhanced physical and data protection, safeguarding critical assets from potential threats.
